The following is an unedited report by Steve Giesting for our live webcast of this event.

The Lawrenceburg Tigers clinched the outright EIAC title on Thursday night with a 12 – 0 victory over Batesville.  The victory improved the Tigers record to 25 – 1 overall, including a 13 – 1 mark in the EIAC.  Batesville drops to 17 – 9 – 1 on the year and 9 – 3 in the EIAC.

This game was seen live as part of our spring sports schedule and is available to watch in HD in our archives by clicking here.

The Tigers got things started offensively right away in the bottom of the first inning, sending 12 batters to the plate.  Jordan Houze singled, Clay Woeste walked and Eli Helton was hit by a pitch to load the bases with only 1 out.  Austin Bowling brought in Houze with a sacrifice fly to left.  Trent Hughes followed with a single to score Woeste.  A.J. Mueller then doubled to the right center field gap to bring in Helton and Hughes and make it 4 – 0 Tigers.

Lawrenceburg was not through with the inning.  Tyler Preston walked and Saben Schnebelt reached on an error to reload the bases for leadoff batter Ben Murphy.  He singled to score 2 more runs and make it 6 – 0.  Murphy then stole 2nd before he and Schnebelt scored on a double by Houze to make it 8 – 0 Tigers after the first inning.

Meanwhile, the Tigers’ Parker Hahn was cruising on the mound.  After giving up a single to Zach Britton in the first inning, he got a double play to end the inning and set down the Bulldogs in order in the 2nd and 3rd innings.

Lawrenceburg added another run in the bottom of the 3rd.  Preston led off the inning with a single and went to 3rd on Houze’s 2nd double of the game.  He would score on an rbi single by Woeste to make it 9 – 0 Tigers.

Batesville’s best chance to score came in the top of the 4th.  Alex McPherson led the inning off with a walk and stole 2nd to get into scoring position.  Two outs later Jacob Christie was hit by a pitch to put 2 Bulldogs on.  Hahn got a groundball to Mueller at 3rd who tagged out McPherson to end the inning.

The Tigers would end the game in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Austin Bowling led the inning off with a single, his 2nd hit of the game.  Trent Hughes worked a walk before A.J. Mueller ended things with a 3 run homerun to right center to make it 12- 0 Tigers and clinch the conference title for the Tigers.
