Athletes Of The Week for August 20-25, 2018

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

SEI Local Sports would like to thank our area coaches and athletic directors who took the time to honor one or more of their varsity, junior varsity and freshman athletes as an Athlete of the Week (AOW). This edition is for the period of August 20-25, 2018. Every athlete submitted is worthy of this honor and we are proud to showcase all of them!

In addition, a committee has selected a group of varsity level AOWs as Elite Athletes of the Week.  This special list includes one varsity athlete per sport per conference (EIAC and ORVC/Independent).  While some athletes participate in sports not recognized as conference sports by the EIAC and ORVC, those athletes are still eligible for Elite AOW under the EIAC or ORVC/Ind. umbrella.

Although a loss, Nicholas played with heart the entire game while being a positive leader in the process.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Nicholas is one of our senior captains and he showed his leadership qualities in a tough loss to a good conference opponent. Nick was constantly leading the attack and did a great job of playing both sides of the ball all game. He was able to get a goal and an assist when our team needed a spark offensively. She went 137/165 hitting with an impressive 84 kills. Mack is hitting over .300 on the season with almost a 50% kill rate. Defensively, she added 5 assist blocks.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Mack is a natural athlete. She has transitioned from a middle to an outside hitter this year and has also found herself as a 6 rotation player. Last weekend, her skill became a little more dynamic as she worked the block to get several less traditional kills. The crazy thing is, she’s still improving and will continue to get better.
