Athletes Of The Week January 22-27

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK- GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Athlete’s name: Abby Koch, East Central

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Guard
  • Submitted by: Kevin Moore
  • Submitter’s position: Varsity Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: In two games last week, Abby connected on 7/17 from the field and averaged 10 points per game (including 6/16 from the 3-line) while also being the player that was designated to shut down both teams leading scorers. She held each of them well below their season average.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Since senior Lauryn Helton went down early this season, Abby has filled in admirably in her absence while providing perimeter shooting and defending at a high level.

Athlete’s name: Logan Cox, East Central

  • Level/Sport: Varsity Girls Basketball
  • Athlete’s year/position: Junior Post
  • Submitted by: Kevin Moore
  • Submitter’s position: Varsity Head Coach
  • Athlete’s accomplishments: In her first game back from injury, Logan played 8 minutes (all in the first half) and compiled the following stat line: 10 points (5/5 from field), 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: Logan stayed positive throughout her rehab and worked extremely hard to get back in time before the season was up. She certainly provides a skill set that we have long missed in her absence.
