Athletes of the Week for November 20-25

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

SEI Local Sports would like to thank our area coaches and athletic directors who took the time to honor one or more of their varsity, junior varsity and freshman athletes as an Athlete of the Week (AOW). This edition is for the period of November 20-25, 2017. Every athlete submitted is worthy of this honor and we are proud to showcase all of them!

In addition, a committee has selected a group of varsity level AOWs as Elite Athletes of the Week.  This special list includes one varsity athlete per sport per conference (EIAC and ORVC/Independent).  While some athletes participate in sports not recognized as conference sports by the EIAC and ORVC, those athletes are still eligible for Elite AOW under the EIAC or ORVC/Ind. umbrella.

EIAC TEAM SWIMMING ELITE ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

  • Submitted by: Leah Fishman

Athletes helped serve and package dinner for members of the church and the community. This is the second year the team has participated in this event. Athletes enjoyed spending quality time together out of the pool and helping their community. An event that was planned for four hours was finished in an hour and a half because of the speedy and efficient work of the athletes and other volunteers. The team enjoyed a meal together afterwards provided by Crosspointe. This is the first of many volunteer and community outreach opportunities the Spartan swimmers and divers will participate in this holiday season.  On December 2, the team will help the Salvation Army with bell ringing at two locations in Connersville. Athletes will also be helping at the Christmas in the Park event, spending time with youth in the community.  On December 7, the Spartans will be hosting the annual Pink Out Meet against the Centerville Bulldogs. The teams raise money for their respective Cancer Society’s through t-shirt sales and donations at the meet. If you are interested in purchasing a Pink Out Shirt, please contact Leah Fishman at CHS or your favorite Spartan swimmer or diver.
  • Submitter’s personal comments: The athletes have been working very hard both in and out of the pool to prepare for our upcoming season, but they have made it a point to be active in our community as well.
