I’m Bryce Kendrick, President of SEI Local Sports. I have been covering and supporting youth athletics in various capacities since I first picked up a p.a. microphone in 1980.
I’ve done public address or live radio play-by-play for over 2000 sporting events. I’ve also been a sports director, writer, broadcast coordinator and tournament director plus a coach, referee/umpire and league advisor for multiple sports.
Those who know me understand how passionate I am about youth athletics. While I was an average athlete when I was in school, I really enjoyed competing and nothing felt better than when I was recognized for a job well done.
That’s what this site is all about… recognizing the efforts and achievements of as many young area athletes as possible on a daily basis. I want them to feel as good as I did each time I got a pat on the back.
The focus of SEI Local Sports has changed for the 2014-15 school year due to personal reasons. It was necessary to reduce the volume of sports being covered so I can better manage my schedule and take better care of myself.
I recently picked up another job to help support my family as I have two kids in college (and a third who will be there soon). Last school year, especially during the winter and spring, I was working an average of 16 hours a day, seven days a week. There were many days where I was working 20 hours. It was simply too much for me to handle. I wasn’t sleeping, I wasn’t exercising, I gained a lot of weight and just felt awful.
So I had to make some tough choices. For now, we will not be covering sports at the junior high, elementary, recreational and travel team levels. Our focus will be strictly on high school level sports- varsity, junior varsity and freshmen. Also, we’ve reduced the number of schools we are following to those in the EIAC and ORVC conferences plus Oldenburg Academy.
If you are a fan of any sport or school we are no longer covering, I sincerely apologize. However, I hope you understand that my health and personal well being has to take priority.
One thing that hasn’t changed is SEI Local Sports will continue to be a positive voice for our local teams and athletes. Our goal is always to accentuate the positive, minimize the negative and offer a balanced presentation for both written articles and live webcasts.
Thank you for your interest in SEI Local Sports.
